Marianna Soroka: “Out of Context”

  • Palazzo 190 Rue Théodore Verhaegen Saint-Gilles, Bruxelles, 1060 Belgium (map)

Titled ‘Out of Context’, Marianna tries to bridge music from different times and origins. Anything goes; traditionally Polish music, 16th century repertoire and contemporary compositions by John Cage and David Lang. She brings an array of instruments from vibraphones, to frame drums and dulcimers. Don’t expect a ‘normal’ percussion performance. Marianna pulls inspiration from movement, theatre, song and improvisation and goes completely against the grain. She invites the audience to become part of her percussive new universe, built on contrasts yet coherent in expression.

Marianna Soroka started her music studies in Poland before moving to the Hague to explore contemporary and early music at the Royal Conservatory. In the past few years she has been performing different genres and art disciplines around the world with Slagwerk Den Haag, LUDWIG and Vox Luminis, among other renowned ensembles. She loves everything related to creating pulsation and rhythm, be it accompanying dance with frame drums, plucking piano strings with objects or hitting metal plates with hammers.

Bring your best moves and stay on beat. This exhilarating performance will make it impossible to sit still. Get your tickets now, we’ll see you on May 25th!
